01Does this sound familiar?

Real work that should be automated.
A list of AI ideas you should act on.

  • 01Your team is buried in manual workflows that a system could be handling.
  • 02You’ve tried AI tools and ended up with chatbots, not outcomes.
  • 03Your data is fragmented across tools, and nobody owns the picture.
  • 04You don’t have an internal AI team, and you don’t want to hire one from scratch.
  • 05You’ve spent hours with agencies and still can’t tell who actually knows what they’re doing.

You’re exactly who we built 820labs for.

02What we build

Real Systems

Four kinds of work we do. Every engagement leaves you with running software, clear documentation, and a team that knows how to keep it running.

  • 01

    Strategy & Discovery

A prioritized roadmap you can act on, with the numbers we expect to move.

  • 02

    Automation & AI Agents

Production systems that handle real work, built into the tools you already use.

  • 03

    Dashboards That Move Decisions

Live dashboards, alerts, and clean pipelines, so the gut-check becomes a number.

  • 04

    Yours to Operate

Readable code, plain-language docs, and operator SOPs. Your team owns the result.

03How it works

A path from first call to running system.

  1. I

    Discovery call 30 min, free

You tell us what’s slowing the operation down. We listen, ask the questions that matter, and tell you straight up whether we can help, or who can.

  2. II

Scoping engagement 1–2 weeks, fixed fee

A written plan: priorities, architecture, timeline, and the numbers we’ll move. Low-risk on purpose. You walk away with something useful even if we never work together again.

  3. III

Build in visible increments weekly demos · 4–12 weeks typical

Small, demoable progress every week. You see working software, not status reports. We talk to you, not through an account manager.

  4. IV

Measure what changed instrumented from day one

Every system is instrumented from day one, not bolted on at the end. You see what moved, by how much, and why, on dashboards your team owns.

  5. V

Hand off, or keep going you decide

Running system. Clear documentation. Operator SOPs. If you want ongoing support, a retainer is an option. If you want to take it from here, you can.

04Why teams choose 820labs

Enterprise rigor. Startup speed.
One senior partner.

  • You work with the practitioner.

No account manager handoff. The person doing the work is the person you talk to, from the first call through delivery.

  • Success is measured.

Every engagement names the numbers it will move, and instruments them before close. You will know whether it worked.

  • You own everything we build.

Readable code, clean documentation, no vendor lock-in. You could end the relationship tomorrow and keep running.

  • Specialists, not generalists.

We do AI and automation. That’s it. No branding pivots, no staffing arm. Narrow focus is how we move fast inside it.

05About 820labs

Backed by Experience.

820labs draws on twenty-five years of experience inside large-scale enterprise technology organizations: leading cloud infrastructure, navigating high-stakes migrations, and shipping the kind of systems that real customers and real revenue depend on every day.

Most consulting in this category is either heavy and slow or fast and disposable. 820labs picks neither. We bring the artifacts a serious engineering team would expect: specs, decision records, instrumentation, measured outcomes. And ship them in weeks, not quarters. What we deliver, you operate without us.

06Common questions

Before you reach out.

What size companies do you typically work with?

We’re best suited to growth-stage companies, roughly $2M–$50M in revenue, with a real operational pain to solve. We’ve worked with smaller and larger, but that’s the sweet spot. If you’re not sure whether you’re a fit, the discovery call is the right place to find out.

How does pricing work?

Most relationships start with a fixed-fee scoping engagement (typically 1–2 weeks). Build work is project-based or monthly retainer, depending on shape. We share specific numbers on the discovery call once we understand what you’re trying to do.

Are you remote? Will you travel?

Yes, remote-first. Based in Detroit (Eastern Time), serving clients across the US. Most work is async with a weekly sync. We travel on-site for kickoff and major milestones when it makes sense.

How fast can we start?

A discovery call usually happens within a few business days. Scoping engagements typically kick off within two weeks of the initial call, depending on current capacity.

We don’t have engineers. Is that a problem?

No. It’s common. We deliver running systems with operator-level documentation and SOPs. If a non-technical owner can run your business, a non-technical owner can run what we ship.

We already have an internal team. Does this still work?

Yes, and it’s often the best shape. We pair with an internal owner, transfer knowledge as we go, and leave your team stronger than we found it.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes. Mutual NDAs are standard before any sensitive detail is exchanged. We sign yours or send ours, whichever moves faster.

What if we’re not sure what we need yet?

That’s what the discovery call is for. Most owner-operators arrive with a problem, not a spec. Clarifying the shape of the work is part of the value.
